Dubai Industrial City to host rail freight terminal as a gateway to MENASA.

Dubai Industrial City, a manufacturing and logistics hub managed by the TECOM Group, and Etihad Rail, the developer, and operator of the UAE’s National Rail network, will jointly host an advanced freight terminal covering 5.5 million square feet. As part of Dubai and the UAE’s advanced infrastructure and state-of-the-art transportation network, the rail freight terminal will bolster the nation’s position as a gateway to the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia (MENASA).

The UAE’s Railway Program aims to facilitate trade by connecting its industrial and manufacturing centers while opening up new trade routes. UAE’s Industrial Strategy, also known as Operation 300bn, will receive a significant boost through the terminal at Dubai Industrial City. Increasing the industrial sector’s contribution to the economy through the construction of advanced logistics infrastructure will allow the country to attain its position as the leading Arab nation in the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report.

The new terminal builds on Dubai Industrial City’s proximity to Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport, enabling companies to reach two-thirds of the world’s population in less than eight hours. The project will deliver several benefits to the 780 business partners in Dubai Industrial City and the surrounding areas, improving efficiencies and reducing costs.

The environmentally-conscious terminal will be the newest means of transportation in Dubai. They will complete a comprehensive mobility network encompassing one of the world’s busiest airports for international travel, its largest port, and state-of-the-art nationwide infrastructure.

The development at Dubai Industrial City is part of Etihad Rail’s sustained effort to maximize the benefits of the National Railway Project. Located adjacent to the Jebel Ali Port, Al Maktoum International Airport, and Dubai’s network of high-speed roads, Dubai Industrial City, covers over 550 million square feet and is a major business district for local and regional manufacturing and logistics.

The new terminal is located within the Etihad Rail’s network, which runs from Seih Shuaib to Dubai and Sharjah and forms a critical part of Stage Two of the UAE National Railway. While construction continues during this phase, Etihad Rail continues to pursue strategic partnerships with several key entities. These partnerships are aligned with the company’s broader efforts to ensure this national project has a significant impact on the sustainable economic development of the UAE.
